Richard Barahona

Associate Attorney

Originally from Inglewood, California, Richard’s journey into law was driven by a deep-rooted passion for helping others navigate life’s most difficult moments. Since 2006, he’s called Colorado home — and over the years, he’s built a career focused on advocacy, compassion, and standing up for those who need it most.

Before becoming an attorney in 2021, Richard spent years immersed in public service and immigration defense. He clerked at the Meyer Law Office throughout law school, served as a Student Attorney for the DU Immigration Law & Policy Clinic, and later became a Deputy Public Defender in Aurora. Each role deepened his resolve to be a trusted advocate in the courtroom and beyond.

Richard holds a B.A. in International Affairs & Neuroscience from CU Boulder, along with a Certificate in Public Health. He earned his J.D. from the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law — where he cemented his commitment to serving families and individuals facing legal uncertainty.

What you might not know: A longtime vegetarian, Richard has been meat-free for the past 12 years. Outside of work, you’ll often find him at the gym or running with his daughter in tow — stroller and all. He’s also a dedicated language learner, taking weekly French classes and keeping up with global news and niche topics on YouTube.
