Dareen Mustapha

HR Manager

Ask Dareen Mustapha where her approach to human resources came from, and she won’t point to a textbook or an HR seminar. She will point to her childhood, watching her father run his local business in Denver. He led with an open door and a simple philosophy: when you take care of your people, everything else falls into place. Watching his team thrive in a culture built on trust and mutual respect planted the seed for Dareen’s life work. Raised in Aurora, Colorado, with formative years spent traveling back home to the Middle East, she developed a natural adaptability, fluent Arabic skills, and an instinct for connecting with people.

Dareen’s route to people operations was anything but conventional. After earning her bachelor’s degree in marketing from Metropolitan State University of Denver and an MBA in Strategic Management, she discovered that her true passion wasn’t marketing the business but understanding and empowering the people behind it. Over 17 years in people operations, she earned her SHRM certification and honed a distinct leadership style that balances airtight compliance with deep empathy. At Jones Law Firm, Dareen oversees key people functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, and firm culture. She believes that accountability and kindness are not mutually exclusive, creating clear, transparent pathways to success so the legal team can focus on advocating for clients while knowing they have the support they need.

For Dareen, success should never feel out of reach, and the path to achieving it should never feel like a black box. She believes HR should be more than an administrative function; it should be a resource where people feel heard, valued, and empowered to do their best work. By bringing heart, humor, and thoughtful structure to every interaction, Dareen helps foster a workplace where people can thrive and ensures that the firm’s commitment to supporting its own team reflects the same care it extends to the families it represents.
