Marina Finnell
Navigating family law proceedings requires a partner who can translate high-stress uncertainty into structured, deliberate action. As a Senior Paralegal at Jones Law Firm, Marina Finell brings a rare combination of legal precision, social work experience, and deep procedural insight into complex domestic relations cases. Her daily focus centers on high-net-worth dissolutions, complex property divisions, and high-conflict custody matters where the stakes are highest.
Marina’s path to family law grew out of a profound commitment to child and family advocacy. After earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in child development from the University of Northern Colorado, she became state-certified in social work, trauma-informed residential care and earned specialized QMAP credentials to support children within residential care facilities and the foster care system. She honed her legal skills at a Guardian ad Litem’s office in both Jefferson and Denver County, advocating for vulnerable youth, assisting respondent parents, and gaining invaluable exposure to private family court proceedings. That hands-on background in trauma-informed care showed her that true legal advocacy is about preserving dignity, restoring stability, and keeping families focused on a healthy way forward.
Currently completing her Juris Doctor at the Charleston School of Law as a 3L student, Marina approaches case management with total clarity and operational structure. When clients reach out in crisis, Marina meets them with a calm, grounding presence that immediately de-escalates panic. She establishes clear case timelines, breaks down financial disclosure requirements into step-by-step phases, and maintains open lines of communication so clients always know what comes next. For Marina, the goal is simple: take the fear out of the legal process and empower clients to make confident decisions for their future.
What you might not know: Marina is the oldest of seven siblings and a proud first-generation college and law student. Now living near the coast while completing law school, her favorite hours outside of work and studies are spent by the water, taking in live music, and exploring the beach with her Staffordshire Terrier, Kilo. She also has a long history of community volunteerism, including adolescent and adult care facilities, Project Angel Heart, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Tennyson Center.
