Every law firm has a central engine that keeps cases moving forward, and for our team, that engine is Monica. As Managing Paralegal and Case Manager, she oversees case strategy alongside our attorneys, directs daily department operations, and ensures that every file moving through the office receives meticulous attention.

Monica’s authority in family law comes from a career built strictly from the ground up. She began at the front desk as a receptionist, learning the daily rhythm of client care before advancing step-by-step through legal assistant and paralegal roles to run the department. While she earned her degree in Psychology from Colorado State University, her legal foundation was forged old-school through years of direct mentorship under a master legal assistant. She spent her early career mastering the precision of tax law before finding her passion in family law, where her ability to understand human behavior and organize complex information makes a direct, meaningful impact.

In practice, Monica serves as the critical bridge between a client’s reality and the legal system. When a client comes to the firm with a long, overwhelming story, Monica listens without judgment, filters out the static, and translates raw facts into clear, actionable legal strategy. She views her role much like the nurse on an surgical team: checking every vital detail, translating confusing legalese into plain English, and making sure the attorney walks into court with the exact evidence needed to win.

That same clear-headed, supportive approach defines how she leads her department. Drawing on years of experience coaching youth sports, Monica manages her team with a true coach’s mindset; setting high standards, clearing operational hurdles, and building up her paralegals so every client gets steady, reliable advocacy.

What you may not know: Outside the firm, Monica is usually on the go with her husband, their two kids, and two mismatched rescue dogs—a short pit bull mix named Nash and a tall Pyrenees mix named Winnie. The dogs’ antics inspired Monica and her kids to write and publish a children’s book, The Adventures of Winnie and Nash. When she is not plotting out sequel ideas, she coaches her son’s soccer team, volunteers at school, and stays active in her book club.
