Denver Weekly News Features April D. Jones on CBA Leadership
Denver Weekly News recently highlighted our founder, April D. Jones, as she begins her term as President-Elect of the Colorado Bar Association. When she assumes the presidency in July 2027, she will be the first Black woman to hold the position since the bar was established in 1897.
April’s core vision for her leadership centers on a simple goal: making Colorado a first-choice state for lawyers and their families to build long-term careers and practices.
Achieving that comes down to three main priorities for her term:
- Career growth: Building practical operational tools, business support, and mentorship networks so solo practitioners and small firms can run sustainable practices across Colorado.
- Member value: Ensuring state bar resources deliver clear, everyday utility to attorneys in every corner of the state.
- Legal tech and AI: Helping lawyers navigate artificial intelligence and new software tools responsibly, without losing ethical standards or human judgment.
This milestone comes after 25 years of building Jones Law Firm across six regional offices in Greenwood Village,Centennial, Parker, Denver, Lakewood, and Westminster. Beyond managing the firm, April has spent decades serving in leadership roles across Colorado, including her past presidency of the Sam Cary Bar Association and her recent appointment to the state’s Legal Technology Advisory Committee.
Throughout her year as President-Elect, April will be working alongside CBA President Qusair Mohamedbhai and Executive Director Nicoal C. Sperrazza to advance state bar initiatives before taking office in July 2027.
