David A. Collins
“David Collins was my attorney and I have no doubt this gentleman has met his calling. He is smart, kind and does whatever it takes to advise you in the best possible ways and gives you hope. His team meets and reviews your case regularly so you get the power of a firm behind the attorney… I highly recommend them.”
David A. Collins brings over two decades of legal experience and a lifetime of working with children to his role as Managing Attorney at Jones Law Firm. Long before he was a courtroom litigator, David spent the 1990s working directly with kids in preschools, after-school programs, and residential youth care, including two years of public service with AmeriCorps.
That early hands-on work with families set the course for his entire career. After earning his law degree from Howard University and a Master of Laws from the University of Denver, David spent years handling criminal, immigration, and family law cases, alongside a stint as a Denver municipal prosecutor. He also spent seven years in state executive leadership, directing child care licensing for Colorado and operations for the Denver Preschool Program.
Today, David draws on all of those experiences to oversee firm-wide litigation and guide clients through divorces, parenting plans, and custody matters. His goal in every case is simple: cut through the stress of a foreign process and give people clear, practical guidance from filing to final court order. He takes time to ask clients for their full wish list upfront, helping them set realistic goals that prioritize their children and long-term peace of mind.
David continues his community advocacy as Board Vice President for the Institute for Racial Equity and Excellence and Board Secretary for Early Milestones Colorado. His public service earned him the Governor’s Public Service Award in 2017.
What you may not know: An empty nester with two sons in college, David spends much of his time outdoors as a Certified Master Gardener. He leads a community garden at The Urban Farm in Denver, donating thousands of pounds of fresh, organic produce to local food pantries each year. At home, he is an avid cook, a singer in the Voices Rock choir, and a companion to his cat, Gus.
