Leah Finlayson

Senior Attorney III

Prior to my move to Colorado, Leah served as Director, Legal Services at the SeniorLAW Center, an independent non-profit legal services organization that improves the lives of older Pennsylvanians and protects their legal rights through legal representation, education, and advocacy.  As Director, Legal Services, Leah oversaw the organization’s legal services to ensure effective and quality representation of its clients.  She was hired in 2016 to be part of their Victim Services team, ultimately becoming the Director, Victim Services in 2019.  This team represented victims of crime to address elder abuse and financial exploitation.  She has handled awide range of civil legal issues including representing to obtain civil protection orders, filing ejectment actions to remove perpetrators, quiet title actions to undue fraudulent conveyances, and defending credit card lawsuits when debts were incurred by fraud.

Prior to joining SeniorLAW Center in 2016, she was a Managing Attorney at North Penn Legal Services, a legal aid organization representing low-income clients. She joined North Penn in 2001 and represented and advised clients in various areas of law including family law, landlord-tenant, mortgage foreclosure, consumer defense and bankruptcy, unemployment, welfare, and adult and minor guardianships. 

A fun fact

Leah worked as a movie theater manager while in her third year of law school and continued working part-time at various theatre locations during her first ten years of her legal career.

Hobbies or interests

While spending most of her time taking her two daughters to various activities, Leah is an avid sports fan, still rooting for the Phillies and Eagles.

Client Success Stories

I worked closely with my client who was served with divorce papers after being married for 18 years. He was not technologically savvy, and I found meeting with him in person the most effective way to communicate with him and help him through this difficult process. He relied on his spouse for handling the finances and when it came to preparing the financials, he needed my help sorting through his bills and other important papers. In the end, we were able to negotiate a fair and equitable settlement for him with a combination of negotiations with his wife’s lawyer and mediation. The client was so happy that the matter was resolved that he hugged me, and told me many times how much he appreciated my professionalism throughout the process.
