Leah Finlayson’s path to the law began not in a courtroom, but on a hotline. While volunteering at a legal helpline in Philadelphia, she spent hours taking calls from people in crisis, constantly having to explain that because she was not yet an attorney, she could only offer legal information, not true advocacy. Seeing firsthand how desperately people needed dedicated legal representation drove her straight to the City University of New York School of Law in Queens, a program specifically designed to train public interest lawyers. After earning her Juris Doctor, Leah spent over two decades in Pennsylvania leading legal aid initiatives, directing victim services, and serving as Legal Director at the SeniorLAW Center before bringing her deep wealth of experience west when she made Colorado her home in 2024.
Admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar in 2001 and the Colorado Bar in 2026, Leah brings a quarter-century of legal practice anchored in trauma-informed advocacy. Having spent decades representing survivors of domestic violence and older adults, she excels at guiding clients through high-conflict divorces, complex child custody disputes, and protective orders. Her deep background with vulnerable populations shapes her client-first philosophy: ensuring that every person who walks through the door feels heard, protected, and treated as a human being rather than a case number. Beyond her core practice in domestic relations, Leah is passionate about expanding access to estate planning, prenuptial agreements, and adoption services, with a special focus on serving the LGBTQ+ community.
As a Senior Attorney at Jones Law Firm, Leah uses her decades in public interest leadership to mentor the legal team and sharpen litigation strategies across the firm. Raised as the youngest child and only girl alongside four brothers in a loud, active family outside Philadelphia, Leah learned early on how to hold her ground and speak up with confidence. Outside the office, her world revolves around her two daughters and an unwavering loyalty to her hometown sports teams. When she isn’t driving her daughters to theater rehearsals, horseback riding, or gymnastics, you can find her cheering on the Phillies and Eagles—and catching a game at Coors Field whenever her teams come to town.
