The Colorado Women’s Bar Foundation has named April D. Jones, Founder and CEO of Jones Law Firm, PC, a 2026 Raising the Bar honoree, recognizing her as a “Courageous Leader of Today.” The honor, announced this week and covered by the National Law Review, will be formally presented at the Foundation’s Raising the Bar gala on September 16, 2026, at the Denver Art Museum.

The Colorado Women’s Bar Foundation’s Raising the Bar awards honor women in Colorado’s legal community whose leadership has strengthened the profession. The Courageous Leader of Today designation recognizes a woman currently leading through social, political, economic, or institutional adversity with integrity and impact. Honorees are selected by the Foundation’s committee from nominations submitted across the Colorado legal community.

For Jones, the recognition reflects more than three decades of practice in Colorado family law and a career spent building one of the Denver metro area’s most established family law firms while serving in leadership roles across the state’s legal institutions.

A Career Defined by Leadership in Colorado Family Law

April D. Jones has practiced family law since 1991, guiding thousands of Colorado families through divorce, child custody, and post-decree matters. Under her leadership, Jones Law Firm, PC has grown to a team of 44 attorneys and legal professionals serving clients from six offices across the Denver metro area, and has handled more than 4,000 cases since its founding in 2000.

“April settled my case literally out in the courthouse hallway.I had a landlord that failed to make promised repairs to my apartment. I was paying for a two bedroom,two bathroom place but only one bathroom worked. He said he would repair it when I moved in but 7 months went by and he was still making excuses. He lived in hawaii, the apartment was in california and he used that as his excuse. I decided to stop paying him until he fixed the bathroom I had BEEN paying for. After 3 months of that he arrived at my apartment and decided to take me to court rather than fix the bathroom and collect back rent which I had been holding onto. April negotiated a deal before we went into court for an immediate cash payment for 1 month and I could take a week to move out. My landlord accepted and a possible unlawful detainer ruling was avoided. I was able to use the 2 months rent I still had to find another apartment which would have been much harder to do with a unlawful detainer on my record.”
