Dawn R. Gould

Senior Attorney III

When the stakes are high and a case hangs in the balance, Dawn R. Gould is the attorney you want commanding the room. A veteran litigator, Dawn brings nearly two decades of battle-tested trial experience to Jones Law Firm. Her legal career was forged in the fire of criminal justice at the University of Maryland before earning her Juris Doctor at Hamline University School of Law in Minnesota. She then spent ten years as a prosecutor at the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office in Maryland, trying civil and criminal child support enforcement cases daily. That intensive trial background built her authoritative courtroom presence, ironclad litigation instincts, and total composure under pressure.

Driven by a fierce devotion to family, Dawn came out west to be near her family, bringing her formidable skill set to Colorado. Today, she handles complex dissolution of marriage, allocation of parental responsibilities, maintenance, high-value asset division, and protection orders. Dawn is known for her unapologetic, black-and-white approach to advocacy. She does not waste breath on legal posturing, indulge dramatic opposing counsel, or sell clients false promises. Where others see chaotic courtroom drama, Dawn sees a tactical board. She brings immediate order, sharp discipline, and total control to the table so her clients feel protected from day one.

Recognized on the 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list, Dawn is the first attorney in her family and has served on the Board of Directors for both the Arapahoe County Bar Association and the Colorado Women’s Bar Association.

What you might not know

Dawn’s idea of a true reset doesn’t require a passport or a crowded itinerary. She favors spontaneous, low-key local getaways, whether escaping on camping trips with her brother or booking a runway-view room at the Denver Airport Westin with her mother just to drink coffee and watch the planes come and go. At home, she is kept company by Smokey, a mischievous gray cat who insists on following her every step.

Client Success Stories

When I got the case, there was not a parenting plan in place but child support was ordered through FSR. Father retained me and I was able to obtain a shared 50/50 parenting plan and joint decision-making for a Father after Mother only allowed him to have parenting time on weekends because she just did not like Father and would not involve Father in her decisions for the child and I was able to reduce his child support by hundreds due to the shared parenting time order

Client Success Stories

I was able to obtain an Order finding Husband in contempt for not paying Wife’s attorneys fees. Punitive contempt was held in abeyance pending compliance with the remedial contempt of paying Wife a huge lump sum of thousands and then monthly payments in the hundreds. The attorneys fees were from a year-old divorce that was still open because Husband refused to pay until I was retained by Wife

Client Success Stories

I got a Father a step-up parenting time plan when he was struggling with alcoholism (supervised with safe-guards in place through Soberlink) and eventually Father made it through all of the steps and was able to have overnight parenting time without relapses. He was able to put his child first and is still in recovery doing well
