John M. Duggan
Long before John “Jack” Dugan ever represented clients in court, his perspective on human conflict was formed on the streets of Chicago. Growing up on the city’s northwest side as the son of a police officer, he understood early on that behind every legal filing and court date is a real family navigating a pivotal moment in their lives. During his thirteen years as a patrol officer and detective, Jack was routinely assigned domestic disputes that demanded patience, de-escalation, and genuine active listening. Seeing those moments up close convinced him that he could make a lasting, constructive difference on the legal side of the table. He earned his law degree at John Marshall Law School through sheer perseverance, spending two and a half years balancing full-time police shifts with long weekend commutes to complete his classes.
That persistent dedication and deep-seated compassion shape how Jack practices law today. Licensed in Illinois and Colorado, he guides clients through divorces, parenting plans, adoptions, and probate matters with straightforward, honest communication. Jack’s primary intention in every initial meeting is simple: create a quiet, reassuring space where clients can speak freely, process their stress, and begin rebuilding their confidence. Having spent decades navigating intense, high-conflict environments, Jack brings an unshakeable composure to litigation. He takes the panic out of complex proceedings, ensuring his clients feel protected, fully informed, and supported through every turn.
For Jack, practicing law is not about courtroom theater or taking shortcut solutions. It is about taking the weight off a client’s shoulders, standing beside them during their hardest chapters, and making sure they walk out of the legal process with their dignity and future secured.
What you may not know: Jack’s decision to move west was guided entirely by fatherhood. When searching for the best environment and specialized resources to support his son, who has autism, Jack and his wife packed up their lifelong Chicago roots to build a new chapter in Colorado. A marathon runner and fitness enthusiast, he spends his winter weekends snowboarding at Copper Mountain with his four kids and cheering from the sidelines at his other son’s travel basketball games. At home, life centers around good food, chaotic mornings, and keeping up with two loyal dogs.
